What would Thanksgiving be without dessert (or any holiday for that matter)?

I’ve created so many pies for the blog (Vegan Gluten Free Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Spiced Apple Pie, Peanut Butter Cup Pie, Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Pie, Chocolate Silk Pie, etc.) that I figured it was due time for an alternative.

Not to worry – it’s still pumpkin and it’s still delicious! Say hello to my latest creation/addiction: 1-Bowl Vegan Pumpkin Roll!

Ingredients

CAKE
3 Tbsp mashed ripe banana
1/3 cup aquafaba* (the liquid left behind in a can of cooked chickpeas)
2/3 cup packed muscovado sugar (plus 1 Tbsp as original recipe is written // or sub organic brown sugar or coconut sugar)
3 Tbsp maple syrup
3 Tbsp olive oil, grape seed oil, or melted coconut oil*
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup pumpkin purée
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 heaping tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice*
2/3 cup water
1/2 cup almond FLOUR (not meal // you can sub almond meal, though I didn't test it and can't guarantee the results)
1/2 cup gluten-free rolled oats
3/4 cup gluten-free flour blend (plus 2 Tbsp as original recipe is written)
CREAM CHEESE FILLING
1 batch Coconut Whipped Cream (as original recipe is written, made from 1 14-oz. coconut cream or 2 14-oz cans full fat coconut milk // ~ 1 1/2 cups coconut whipped cream total)
1 8-oz. container vegan cream cheese (I like Trader Joe's and Toffuti brand // any excess liquid drained)
1/4 - 3/4 cup organic powdered sugar, plus more to taste

Instructions

• Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 C) and line an 11x17-inch baking sheet with parchment paper, making sure the edges are completely covered. It's important to use a baking sheet that's close to these dimensions or the cake will be too thick or thin to roll (amount as original recipe is written // adjust size/number of baking sheets if altering batch size).
• Add banana to a large mixing bowl and mash. Then add aquafaba and whisk to combine. Next add muscovado sugar, maple syrup, oil, vanilla, and pumpkin purée and whisk to combine.
• Next add baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice, and mix. Add water and whisk once more.
• Add almond flour, gluten-free oats, and gluten-free flour blend, and stir until just combined (see photo). The batter should be thick and pourable. Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more pumpkin pie spice for pumpkin flavor, or muscovado sugar for sweetness.
• Transfer batter to the parchment-lined baking sheet and spread into an even layer. It should be about 1/2-inch thick. Bake for 20-24 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the cake springs back to the touch.
• Let cool for 5 minutes. Then gently roll the cake from short end to short end, rolling the parchment paper up inside the cake and using it as a guide. Be very careful with this step and try to handle the cake as little as possible. Let cool to room temperature (otherwise the filling will melt).
• While the cake is cooling, quickly rinse your mixing bowl and add your chilled coconut cream. Whip using a hand mixer or whisk attachment until light and fluffy. Then sweeten to taste with powdered sugar. This should yield about 1 1/2 cups coconut whipped cream (amount as original recipe is written // adjust if altering batch size).
• Next, add vegan cream cheese and beat to combine. Then add more organic powdered sugar to taste. I added another 1/4 cup (32 g) total (amount as original recipe is written // adjust if altering batch size). Cover and place in the refrigerator to chill.

What is mesothelioma? This question will be asked by the people who are not familiar with the term. Obviously, not everyone is familiar with this one disease. So, what is the meaning behind mesothelioma? Well, this refers to a particular type of cancer that is relatively rare. The cancer cells in this disease will attack the lines of cells or simply refer as mesothelioma that protects the body internal organs. The cancer cells may start to occur and grow through cavity in chest, abdomen or even from heart cavity. From the cavity in those internal organs, it may spread and affect the other parts of body. Now that it is clear, mesothelioma is a type of cancer but what is mesothelioma cancer? Is it just about membrane? The disease indeed comes from the cavity of membrane. The cavity of chest membrane or pleura is known to be the most common. This is called as pleural mesothelioma. The less common form is called as peritoneal mesothelioma. This one comes from the abdomen cavity. Another form of mesothelioma comes from heart cavity and known as pericardial mesothelioma. What Causes Mesothelioma?

Now, after finding the answer of what is mesothelioma, the next question will come naturally. What causes this condition? The main cause of this condition is exposure to asbestos. Asbestos is known as mineral with very microscopic fiber. The jobs that will always in contact with asbestos will have high risk. Of course, the workers of asbestos mines become the most vulnerable. About 70% to 80% cases of mesothelioma are linked to the exposure of asbestos while working. Aside of working environment, buildings with asbestos will slowly cause cavity that might end up with cancer. In developing into cancer, it might take around 30 to 40 years but some people take 70 years before cancer shows up. What is mesothelioma? And what are the things that will cause this condition? Aside of asbestos, the cancer of mesothelium is also reported to be caused by several other things.

• Genetics believed to also cause mesothelioma but the rates varied amongst population.
• Radiation in high doses to the chest or the abdomen or the radiation that comes after thorium dioxide (Thorotrast) injections.
• Zeolites are minerals and chemically related to mineral asbestos. One of the related minerals is known as erionite and commonly found in the soil of some places in Turkey. The exposure of erinite is thought to increase the risk of mesothelioma.

What are Symptoms of Mesothelioma?

Now that the question of what is mesothelioma has been answered and the causes are also known, the time to learn about its symptoms has come. What are mesothelioma symptoms? The initial symptoms are as the followings:

• Short breaths
• Pain in the chest
• Coughing

When these symptoms are ignored, the disease will progress and might cause:

• Increasing short breaths
• Loss appetite
• Night sweats
• Weight loss

There is also a possibility of voice change. Diaphragm might lose its functions and a lot other symptoms in specific areas and might involve adjacent structures. Right now, with the understanding from the question what is mesothelioma, a proper treatment needs to be done. Just like the other types of cancer, it is difficult to check whether cancer exists or not. The regular health checkup might be helpful but then again, not everybody is able to do it. There are three options of treatment that will need to be done. In any cases of mesothelioma, two or even three of these treatments might be combined. These treatments will include:

• Surgery to take out cancer.
• Therapy of radiation using the high dose X-rays or the other high energy rays to get cancer cells killed.
• Chemotherapy that will use drugs to fight the cells of cancer.

In treating mesothelioma, there will be several types of surgery that might be conducted. What type of surgery that will need to be conducted? It is something that will be decided through the diagnosis. When someone comes to a doctor and diagnosed for mesothelioma, he or she will be examined further. The examination will become a reference in choosing the best treatments. If a surgery is needed, what type of surgery will be best? Is it necessary to conduct two or even three treatments at once? There are a lot questions to be asked to get the best treatment. Asking these questions is more important rather than asking about what is mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma Life Expectancy

After asking the question what is mesothelioma and know about this condition, many people will ask about the life expectancy of the patients. Mesothelioma is a malignant cancer. Approximately, it will cause death to the patients as fast as four months or as long as one year. This is not a very pleasant thing to be heard. But this fact is something that cannot be denied. The only thing that may bring relief is the fact that this type of cancer is rarely found. Considering the malignancy and the danger that will be brought, trying to avoid the disease from happening is natural. It will be better to stay away from asbestos and the other things that might trigger mesothelioma. In order to get better maintenance in health, the regular health checkup is needed. Treating mesothelioma as soon as possible is highly recommended. That is the reason why everyone needs to visit a doctor when they feel initial symptoms. Taking action is better rather than just asking about what is mesothelioma.
